Trails & Wildilfe

Bordering the Blue Ridge Mountains and 18,500-acre Lake Keowee, The Reserve is set in an area rich in breathtaking beauty and an endless array of natural treasures. In this setting, residents and guests enjoy miles of hiking trails within The Reserve. 5 1⁄2 miles of trails have already been mapped, with more to come. Using the comprehensive Trail Guide produced by the Reserve’s naturalist, families can follow paths once walked by the Cherokee, search for over 75 different varieties of birds, or marvel at a waterfall as it cascades to the lake.

Days in the forest may begin or end at Turkey Ridge Park where families can play softball, basketball, volleyball or toss horseshoes. Then top it off with a picnic or cookout at the covered Pavilion with its grand stone fireplace, grilles, and picnic tables.

This is land to be enjoyed both now and forever. Over 400 acres at The Reserve have been placed in a perpetual conservation easement to preserve natural habitats for flora, fauna, and wildlife, as well as protect the scenic beauty of the community. More acreage will be protected in future phases.
