The Reserve Breaks Ground on Guest House Cottages - February 2, 2011
While there is debate about the speed with which the housing market is recovering across the country, there is at least one place where 2011 has begun very auspiciously. Last week, The Reserve at Lake Keowee celebrated the groundbreaking of the Guest House Cottages neighborhood, a new collection of retreat homes located in the heart of the community’s Village. Plans for four Guest House Cottages were announced in December 2010. Within in a matter of weeks, at a time when real estate sales traditionally lag, the Guest House Cottages struck a chord with buyers, and immediately three of the four homes sold.

The Reserve Foundation raises $40,000 for local charities - December 7, 2010
Sunset, S.C. – At a special dinner ceremony on December 1, The Reserve at Lake Keowee Charitable Foundation’s Board of Directors and Outreach Committee, along with Executive Director Kathryn Coleman-Gravely, distributed four $5,000 checks to Prevent Child Abuse of Pickens County, Pickens County Meals on Wheels, MARYS House, and Helping Hands. These four non-profit organizations, all based in and serving the families of Pickens County, were chosen by The Reserve’s membership earlier in 2010 to receive the Foundation’s annual gift which, this year, totals $40,000, half of which was already distributed to the organizations in April. Though the organizations knew that they were beneficiaries of the funds, the amount of the gift was a surprise.

The Reserve hosts Antique Boat Show, Chris Craft family members - May 25, 2010
Sunset, S.C. – Chris Smith – the grandson of Christopher Columbus Smith, the founder of Chris-Craft boats – along with Alan Smith, the elder Smith’s great-grandson, shared stories at The Reserve at Lake Keowee’s Marina and Village on Friday, May 21, during a luncheon and boat cruise held in conjunction with Lake Keowee’s 2nd Annual Antique Boat Show. The Antique Boat Show, hosted by the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society, drew scores of passionate boaters with their vintage watercraft from different parts of the country to Lake Keowee on May 20-22. Each day featured boat cruises, followed by intimate get-togethers. The event is one of many signature celebrations planned throughout 2010 honoring The Reserve community’s 10th Anniversary.

The community has named landscape photographer John Smith its 2010 Artist in Residence. The Reserve at Lake Keowee Hosts the 34th Annual Junior Matches - July 27, 2009
On July 17 and 18, The Reserve at LakeKeowee hosted the 34th Annual Junior Matches, a golf tournament between the top eight junior golfers in South Carolina and the top eight junior golfers in Georgia. After two days of play, South Carolina defeated Georgia with an overall score of 11.5 to 4.5, marking their 13th win in the history of The Matches, the longest running contest of its kind in the country. The format was singles match play with one point available per match.

Early sales were primarily to second homeowners, but recently The Reserve has seen an increase in the number of people who have bought primary residences.

The 2nd Annual Memorial Day Concert andWine Auction at The Reserve at Lake Keowee took place on Friday, May 22 and raised over $3,300. One hundred people attended and bid on 29 bottles of wine, which were auctioned off by residents Don Kelly and Robert Clement. The event was sponsored by The Reserve at Lake Keowee Community Foundation and organized by the community OutreachCommittee.

More than 100 participants teed off at The Reserve at Lake Keowee today for the 26th Annual Bi-Lo Charity Classic Golf Tournament. The private Jack Nicklaus-designed course was one of 12 host sites for the one-day tournament. “It is an honor to be able to host an event that touches so many people and supports so many wonderful organizations,” said Bo Bowden, the head golf professional at The Reserve.
